Family Law Attorney

Tired of being ground down at your current job? We are looking for an experienced Family Law Attorney at the Vasquez de Lara Group. You would be joining one of the larges family law firms in Miami alongside 8 other powerhouse attorneys fully devoted to making lives better in and out of family court.

The associate attorney will be able to handle all aspects of a family law matter including litigation. The associate attorney will handle case load independently or with minimal support from more senior attorneys and will work with staff such as paralegals, law clerks, and support admin to deliver exceptional value and service to the client. The associate attorney may be asked to perform consultations with prospects and will be expected to be able to convey the value of working with our firm.

Compensation:
$99k – $150k+ DOE

We pay a base salary plus bonuses based on hours billed and collected and firm performance. You will also get a percentage of any matter you bring into the firm.

Job Responsibilities:

• Guide clients by providing strategic direction on their cases, understanding their needs and wants, pivoting when needed, and keeping the client at the center of each matter
• Represent clients in court proceedings
• Be able to draft pleadings, conduct discovery, handle mediations and settlement conferences and pretrial hearings and trials
• Prepare and attend all hearings, mediations, depositions and trials
• Delegate and communicate with other attorneys and staff to efficiently move the case forward and prevent details from falling through the cracks
• Stays on top of billing for each matter and ensures that clients have funds prior to working on any case

Qualifications:

• Florida Bar License in Good Standing
• 5+ years of Family Law Experience
• Trial experience required (will affect compensation offer)
• Bilingual English/Spanish

Senior Family Law Paralegal

A Paralegal assists lawyers in preparing and organizing various legal documents for upcoming cases and trials. Their main duties include preparing affidavits and correspondence, discussing case details with attorneys and clients and organizing different files for different legal proceedings and ensuring deadlines are properly calendared.

The senior paralegal will demonstrate command over family law matters and brings years of experience to the role. The senior paralegal is expected to bring strategic advice to cases, not just provide case law or other preparatory documentation.

We are a family first, family law firm. Therefore, honesty, patience and integrity are as important as a strong work ethic and ability to work well with the staff. Experience supervising other less junior paralegals would be expected. This candidate must be results-oriented with high-quality output and track history of professional results. Job Responsibilities

• Writing Motions, Petitions, Misc. Pleadings, Subpoenas, Objections, etc.
• Assist with trial preparations, hearings and mediations
• Organize cases for efficient case meetings
• Reach out to opposing counsels when needed
• Will delegate any tasks that can be done by support staff if not billable
• Assist attorney at Trial/Hearing by being present and providing live feedback on the case.

Qualifications:

• Paralegal experience with at least 7 years in family law
• Able to track time
• Strong research and legal drafting skills
• Knowledge of family law
• Experience in legal case management and document review
• Excellent writing skills
• Ability to work with document management systems
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
